Jeremy Bittner
I would like to thank the NAGA for selecting me for their scholarship program. With the money from the NAGA I plan on continuing my education at Robert Morris University pursuing a degree in Sport Management. I first found out the organization last March when the pro at my golf club said I should join and gave me the information. Within a month I was playing in my first EAGA tournament and have attended several tournaments over the past two years. I lost my lower left leg when I was four years old in a lawn mower accident. But it did not keep me from playing sports. Participating in amputee golf tournaments has given me lots of useful information regarding proshtetics. These tournaments have also help me improve both as a golfer and as an amputee. The golfers at these tournaments have been dealing with disabilities for years and offer valuable information and tips on how to deal with certain situations.
Seth Darnell
I am attending Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas and majoring in Bio-Medical Engineering. After getting my degree, I plan to get my certification as a prosthetist. I would like to help others gain the highest quality of life. Many amputees whom I have met since my amputation have inspired me. I have been working with Endolite Prosthetics as a representative and been given a head start in how the prosthetics industry works. This is a field with many possibilities in research as well as patient care. I appreciate NAGA and its interest in assisting students like myself. This scholarship aid will help enable me to acquire a top-level education. Thank you for granting me this award. This is a contribution to help make my dreams for my future come true. I look forward to my association with the NAGA for many years and hope one day I can lend a hand to some young student with the opportunity I have been given.
Ryan Grisa
I am starting my second year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison pursuing a degree in Engineering Mechanics and Astronautics, or in short, rocket science, my goal ultimately being to seek employment in an aerospace related field. While this may sound like the description of a pocket-protected egghead, I feel my love of life complements my love of science. I enjoy bicycling, playing the fiddle and, of course, hitting the links whenever time allows. The significance of this scholarship to me certainly transcends the monetary reward. I have read the Amputee Golfer magazine, and I am well aware of the quality of character of the members of the organization. Indeed, the reward of being chosen as one who is best in step with NAGA's ideals gives me great pride. I am proud to be who I am, and my selection to receive this honor seems a vindication of my identity by those who I greatly respect. I feel that by choosing me for your scholarship, you wish not only to send a young enthusiast on his way with more than he started, but to show your support of his ways, and that's a good feeling.
Casey Grover
My name is Casey Grover and I am currently attending the University of Central Florida to attain a bachelor's degree in Forensic Science. I am originally from Arizona. My mother works at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and because of this I was able to attend the Embry Riddle campus in Daytona Beach for two years where I took some of my general education classes. Embry Riddle did not have my major however, so I then had to make the choice of where to continue my education. I had originally planned to return to Arizona but after the amazing friends I made here and finding out there was no school with my major in Arizona, I ended up at the beautiful campus of the University of Central Florida. After I have completed my courses I hope to eventually work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I would love to work in a department that helps to solve unfinished investigations. There are many cases from the past that could be solved with the new technology we have today. Regardless of whether that works out or not my main objective is to help victims of violent crimes. I am very grateful for this scholarship, it has given me an opportunity to go to school and live out my dreams of making a difference in the world. Thank you very much for the scholarship.
