The Horse Barn

Located in Shelbyville, the Barn is the second largest in Kentucky. Built in 1910 as a mule barn, it was part of the 1000+ acre Undalata farm owned by Colonel Weissinger. Listed as a Shelby County Landmark, it has in the past functioned as a sheep barn, dairy barn, milk processing plant, curing barn for grass seed, living quarters for a local veterinarian, and a feeder cattle barn.

In 1989 the Barn and surrounding acreage was purchased as part of a new private golf course development named Undalata. The Barn underwent major restoration, with its 7000+ square foot first floor used for a pro shop, snack bar, cart storage, vehicle maintenance sheds, and general storage. Then in 1992, the city of Shelbyville purchased the property and renamed the course Weissinger Hills Golf Course and the barn the Weissinger Barn.

The Golf Course

Weissinger Hills Golf Course is located just seconds off of I-64, and is easily accessible from Lexington, Louisville and all of Central Kentucky. The staff at Weissinger Hills Golf Course is second to none, and one of the true delights about playing golf at Weissinger is the friendly way in which you will be treated. Known for its reachable par 5s and challenging par 3s, Weissinger has four sets of tees, ranging from 5119 to 6526 yards, supporting golfers of all skill levels.

The extra large greens play a key role in the exciting last three holes. The 16th green is elevated and very narrow, miss it anywhere but short and you are looking at a bogey or worse. The 17th green slopes severely from back to front so keeping it below the hole is a must to get your par. And, the 18th is a potential birdie hole, but only from the correct tier of the 3-tiered green.

Course Layout for the 2012 Amputee Golf Event:

Play will be from the White Tees (men) at approximately 5900 yards and Red Tees (seniors and women) at approximately 5200 yards. Please note that some tee lenghts will be changed slightly from scorecard distances.

On hole #10, which requires a carry over water, a drop zone will be added to provide an additional recovery option for the players. Additionally, for safety, an area around Hole #16 that is difficult to access will be marked as ground under repair.

Tentative Tournament Rules for both the Sponsor/Amputee Scramble and the 2-day Amputee Tournament have be drafted.
