"An Exciting Year to Come"

Perfect Attendance

For the 18th Annual Amputee Tournament Players Championship (TPC), the first weekend in June brought over 40 amputee players from 12 states to Shelbyville KY to participate in the Amputee TPC and the Sponsor Scramble. The tournament continued to raise funds for educational scholarships for regional amputees in honor of Henry Brown, the past President of Amputee Golf Charities. During the opening ceremonies, players with perfect attendance (since 2003) were honored and presented with a commemorative shirt. They included Scott Lusk, Virgil Price, Mark Calvert, Richard Minton, and Alan Gentry. Weissinger Hills Golf Course was in wonderful condition and once again Bryan Sloan, PGA Pro, and his staff hosted the tournament with grace and Kentucky hospitality.

In 2012, changes are coming! Amputee Golf Charities would like to announce a pairing with Southern Amputee Golf Championship. While the Amputee Sponsor Golf Scramble and Amputee Tournament Players Championship has been played for 19 years, it will combine with the 55th Annual Southern Amputee Golf Championship (SAGC), bringing more competition as well as tradition. It is a great honor to host these two great tournaments as a combined event that will bring more players and raise more funds for our amputee scholarship program. The weekend will include a sponsor scramble on Friday June 1st with tournament play on Saturday afternoon (TPC) June 2nd and Sunday morning (SAGC) June 3rd.

Awards

The Amputee Tournament Players Championship, will be a stroke play event with seven divisions based on amputation (above elbow, below elbow, above knee, below knee, and multiple), women, and senior (70 and older) – with the larger divisions having multiple flights. The Southern Amputee Golf Championship, will be a stroke play event with multiple divisions flighted by first round scores. However, both tournament winners will be determined by the same “two-day” total score. Players may choose to play only in the TPC, however, players must play in the TPC to also be entered into the Southern Tournament. As in years past, playing in the Southern Tournament will qualify players for the 2012 National Tournament.

You won’t want to miss this opportunity to experience great Kentucky hospitality and have the opportunity to play in this unique combination tournament. Please see the website www.AmpGC.com for next year’s event details, statistics, and pictures from the previous Kentucky tournaments.
