About Us (AmpGC)
From 1994 through 2002, an amputee golf tournament was held at South Park Country Club in Louisville Kentucky. This annual tournament, renamed the Amputee Tournament Players Championship in 1999, was organized and run by a Louisville based committee headed by Alan Gentry. Late in 2002, Alan was looking for a new venue for the Kentucky tournament and asked Henry Brown, an amputee golfer and Shelby County resident, if he was interested. Henry and Mark Calvert took up the challenge, and in June of 2003 this event was officially moved to Shelbyville Kentucky.
To insure that the new site provided the same quality event, Henry and Mark created the Amputee Golf Charities (AmpGC) organization in October 2002 and recruited appropriate staff and support volunteers. AmpGC has officially received Non-Profit 501(c)(3) status under the name "Amputee Golf Charities", with required Articles of Association and By-Laws.
The AmpGC organization includes Officers, Board Members, Support Staff, and Tournament Volunteers.
